Sky Meadows State Park is rich in history. This park provides recreational offerings that engage visitors and help connect them with farming practices that formed its unique pastoral landscape. Sky Meadows State Park sits on 1,860-acres which provide stunning scenic views. Some of these views include woodlands and the rolling pastures of a historic farm. The farm draws visitors in as they view colonial life up through the modern life of the Crooked Run Valley. And visually and hearing impaired visitors can experience Sky Meadows through the Sensory Explorers Trail.
Nature and history programs are offered year-round. Group activities include hiking, picnicking, fishing and primitive hike-in camping for families and groups are favorite activities in this peaceful getaway on the eastern side of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The park includes 10.5 miles of bridle trails and nine miles of bike trails. There are also 22 miles of hiking trail as well as Appalachian Trail access. Sky Meadows is also an International Dark Sky Park and offers special night sky viewing events.
